Hitting instruction for students of all ages is provided by Terry Whitfield, former major league player with the New York Yankees, San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers and the Japan Seibu Lions.  During his career, Terry studied the techniques of successful batters and watched hundreds of hours of film analyzing the biomechanics of hitting.  His positive and technique-oriented coaching style enhances skills and builds confidence in hitters.

Terry has been coaching hitters of all ages for over 20 years.  A number of Terry’s students have played professional baseball including Jimmy Rollins of the Philadelphia Phillies.

“My philosophy is to focus on the mechanics of a good swing.  I do this by having my students feel their bodies flow together as they practice a mechanically sound swing.”

“All good hitters have certain common characteristics in their swings regardless of their stance or how they look to the average fan.  The key to hitting a baseball is to develop these critical common characteristics.”

“All kids are different and what works to teach one student to hit may not work with another.  You have to be flexible and adopt your teaching to fit the individual.”

"Terry Whitfield is not only an extremely knowledgeable batting coach; he has a great skill for communicating his knowledge to children.  That is why I take my son to see Terry."

- Dusty Baker, former manager of the San Francisco Giants and Chicago Cubs

"In working with older kids, the mental part of pitching becomes increasingly important.  If a student has mastered his mechanics, the key to his success is going to be his understanding of how to use his pitches.  Tom Glavine doesn't throw any harder than a lot of high school kids, but it's not an accident he's won more games than Nolan Ryan.  I particularly enjoy teaching the mental part of the game to my older students."
